Sonic Foundry’s Sound Forge 6.0
In this business, you can’t afford to rest on your laurels. An excellent example is Sonic Foundry and its Sound Forge audio editor. This two-track PC-based editing program became an industry standard soon after being introduced in 1991. But by the late 1990s, it lagged the competition in two key areas: resolution and plug-in support. Last year, Sonic Foundry fought back with a redesigned Sound Forge 5.0. It broke through the 16-bit barrier by adding support for 24-bit audio. It also added the ability to chain DirectX plug-in effects. This year, Sound Forge 6.0 ratchets up the resolution even further—to a full 32 bits—and makes it much easier to mix and match your DirectX plug-ins.
