Upgrade prices start at $75 for Pro Tools LE
Apple Chairman Steve Jobs announced during his Macworld keynote address Tuesday that Pro Tools 6 for OS X would be shipping this month. Digidesign's upgrade price for version 6.0 is $75 for Pro Tools LE, or $195 for Pro Tools TDM systems. The long-awaited upgrade was announced at the Los Angeles AES Convention in October.
Reviewing a Year of Achievement
Voters are racing to theaters and viewing “For Your Consideration” copies of films for the Academy Awards® nomination ballots, due next month. Film & Video began early research on some of the projects and talent considered potential nominees in key filmmaking categories. Among these are the Sound and Sound Editing categories, with Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, The Bourne Identity and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets among the likely candidates.

Pinnacle now owns all Steinberg audio products and technologies
Pinnacle Systems has completed its acquisition of Steinberg Media Technologies. Steinberg is a developer of several major audio technologies and is the name behind such audio applications as Nuendo and Cubase. Pinnacle is a company that has been traditionally focused on video technologies, with a variety of hardware and software products, including the CineWave line of capture and editing systems for Macintosh and Targa systems for WIndows.
Apple's realities versus expectations
With Steve Jobs's annual keynote address out of the way, it's pretty safe to say that the major announcements coming out of the Macworld SF 2003 conference have now been made. Not that I can take the rest of the week off or anything, but you know what I mean. The "big news"--the stuff we've been waiting to hear for the last few months--has been made. And it's now time to compare the Apple's offerings against expectations.
